PTA Reflections - Seven students placed in the 2008 City-Wide PTA Reflections program. Two of those students continued on placing at the State-wide level. |

Northern Shores students and staff raised more than $8,000 in charitable contributions for United Way, Suffolk Education Foundation, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, the Food Bank, Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots and for families who were affected by the April 2008 tornado. |

Northern Shores teachers recognize an average of 30 Students of the Month each month, totalling more than 300 students a year. |

PTA Membership - Northern Shores is very proud of the PTA’s effort to support the school’s overall educational program. Since the school's opening in 2002, the PTA has registered more than 350 members each year. |

Northern Shores is grateful for the active participation of over 180 community volunteers who gave more than 1,000 hours of their time in service of the NS students and staff during the 2007-08 school year. |

Test Scores
The Virginia Standards
of Learning (SOLs) are a framework of basic skills students
in each grade level should learn in English, math, science,
social studies, and technology.
The SOL tests are given
each spring to measure students' success in meeting
these state standards. The 2008 benchmark for elementary grades is a 75% pass rate in English, 70% in math, 70% in science and 70% in history.
