Highlights

Four years have passed since King’s Fork High School opened its doors in September of 2004. In that time we have seen much change and we continue to get better and better. For the fourth consecutive year, KFHS is a fully accredited school! We are extremely proud of our faculty, students and support staff, who have made this possible.
Our staff is committed to continuous improvement. The teachers plan diligently to meet the needs of our many diverse learners and attend professional development activities regularly throughout the year.

King’s Fork is a large high school with a family atmosphere. All staff members help create this safe, orderly environment which enhances the educational experience for all of our Bulldog students.
Beginning this fall, King’s Fork will house the Pre-International Baccalaureate program. This program of study for incoming ninth graders is a pre-cursor to the International Baccalaureate program, which is much more challenging than the regular course of study for high school. Forty-four students from across the city will participate. In addition to core studies, these students will learn a second language and participate in community service activities. It is the first program of its kind offered by Suffolk Public Schools.

We are also very proud of the senior class of 2008. These students were collectively offered over three million dollars in scholarship and grant money for college. Three students each earned a $63,000 DNIMAS scholarship to Norfolk State University, two students earned full scholarships, one to Virginia Tech and one to Chowan College.
Not only are Bulldogs strong academically, but athletically as well.

The School-Student-Parent and Community Relationship
Strong Schools are the result of a strong school-student-parent- and community relationship. Fostering a stronger relationship with the parent community, KFHS opened a Parent Resource Center during the academic year. Located in our Guidance Department, parents are encouraged to visit it and pick up brochures and pamphlets on a number of topics ranging from teen pregnancy, teen drug use, coping mechanisms to career planning.
| Community involvement is very important to us. We value the benefits of partnerships through three local business enterprises who provide donations and services in kind, monetarily and instructionally. We salute the partnering efforts of: |
